TRANSFERS!!!!!

Image
Letter from Mar 26 Sadly, I am being affected by Transfers....... :( I have loved Grandview a lot and have been through quite a bit here. I love the people and I love walking the sketchy streets at night. I love the Volcanoes with the sun setting behind them every night. I am definitely going to miss this place very much, but I am more excited for what is going to happen. I am being transferred to Kennewick Spanish 3 serving in the Branch as a District Leader and will be finishing Training Elder Rockwood!! I am beyond excited and can not wait to jump into something new. So this week Elder Despain and I have been hitting the pavement hard. We set a goal to work for 50 hours this week and made the plans to reach that goal. We woke up at 5:30 every morning, did our studies until 10 and got out to work. Let me tell you, I am beyond tired and the holes in my shoes just got bigger and bigger, but I can list off all sorts of miracles that we encountered in the process. This goal was not a...

TAMALES!!!!!

Image
Letter from March 19 This week was jam packed full of WORK. Elder Despain and I learned how to make Tamales yesterday from our Abuelita Maria, We helped her carry all her supplies in the day before and asked her if we could help make them for her. The next day we showed up and made about 200 or more tamales for her. She makes well over a thousand every week and sells them for a living and whenever she sees us in the street she gives us both a dozen. She is super nice. We are going by on Thursday to eat some with them, I am excited. I LOVE TAMALES!! We had exchanges with the District leader this week and I went with Elder Eberhard and worked in Prosser and East Grandview and we had a cool thing happen. Their area was stuggling a lot with finding people to teach and also just having lesson in General. So the focus on the exchange was to have Short powerful lessons and finding new investigators. We were out working in the boonies of Prosser and decided to stop at a potentials house....

More meetings...

Letter from March 12 This week we had multiple meetings such as, Zone councils, Interviews with President White and District Councils. We had little time to work but when we did get out and work, we worked hard. We knocked a whole ton of doors this week and not very many people opened and accepted us, but when they did, we saw a lot of miracles and met some amazing people. As I said before, there wasn't that much time to go out and work so there aren't very many stories to tell. but this week we Have received a few people who will be preparing to be baptized here coming soon. We currently have 6 people preparing for baptism, a family of 4 who consist of Joel, Rafaela, Laylani (15), and Brianna (10). They are on date for the 7 of April. next up is Niki Corona, she has met with missionaries for over 10 years and now is preparing to be baptized here really soon (date is changing). Last but not least is Ricardo Mariscal. I found Ricardo my first week here in Grandview whi...

I take it back, Her name is Priscilla.

Letter from Mar 5 So I said that we got a new car last week, and we did. We first got a 2016 Toyota Corolla. But we got another new car, we won it actually. There was a mission wide competition to whoever had the cleanest car won a new 2018. WE WON!!! We are now driving a new 2018 Corolla, it is nice. We have decided a name for her which is Priscilla, wife of Aquila. So that is pretty exciting. Now for the real excitement, Ricardo is on date to be Baptized!!!! We have been trying forever to get all the divorce papers figured out and he finally got them filed in court and within 90 days they will be finalized. We set a date for June 2nd but that is most likely going to change and he will be baptized earlier!!! So starting over, We were in a lesson with Ricardo and Sujey and they stopped us and told us they had some news for us and then they went silent for a minute. I thought they were gonna tell us to stop coming or something, it scared me. instead they told us that everything was ...

New Car!

Image
Letter from Feb 26 Not much exciting has happened since the last time I wrote you all on Wednesday, however, We got a new car and that is pretty exciting. We were told that is name was Jezebel.. I promise that I did nott name it that... We now are driving a 2016 Titanium Toyota Corolla. It is a beauty.  Now for the real exciting stuff, This week Elder Despain and I have been working really hard to find new investigators. For the last 3 or 4 weeks went on a dry spell of finding new people to teach. We started out really slow on Monday to Wednesday and found nobody. Thursday we got in a few lessons with new people but they are not willing to listen to us or keep meeting with us. Then on Friday, we invited almost everybody we saw to a baptism that the Prosser elders were having and about 6 people said they would come, and nothing. nobody came which was really sad because the Baptism was super spiritual and she was really happy with the decision she made to be baptized. On Saturday...

Mission Tour

Image
Letter from Feb 21 This week we had a mission tour as you can tell. Elder Gong of the Presidency of the Seventy came to our Mission and we had a special devotional and zone conferences this week. They were both really great and SUPER spirit filled. To prepare for the meetings, he had us read from Joseph Smith History and the Talk from President Nelson from the Broadcast. I came to realize why he had us study those, even though he didn't talk about it hardly at all. For the last 3 or 4 weeks, i have been studying those 2 things every single day and really trying to understand how Joseph Smith felt as he was reading, praying, and trying to find his answer. the best way that I thought I would understand how he felt was if I tried it myself. I went into reading the Bible in James Chapter 1 with a question in my heart. I read verse 5 and felt something really cool, as soon as i read it, I got the chills and felt the spirit super strongly but did not receive my answer. I then got dow...

Letter from Feb 5 I am running out of time to email as week speak, so this may be short... sorry. This week has been a good one, the weather is getting better(it has been in the 60's all week) and the work is picking up! We have two people preparing to be baptized, and have found 6 new investigators this week. Also on Sunday we hade 2 investigators attending, (Ricardo and Niki) and are hoping to have a lot more this coming week. It was Filled with working and talking with everyone wee see about the Restored Gospel. Scripture of the week, 1 Nephi 18:1-3 1 And it came to pass that they did worship the Lord, and did go forth with me; and we did work timbers of curious workmanship. And the Lord did show me from time to time after what manner I should work the timbers of the ship. 2 Now I, Nephi, did not work the timbers after the manner which was learned by men, neither did I build the ship after the manner of men; but I did build it after the manner which the Lord had shown u...
