Letter from September 5
HI GUYS!!!! This week has been AWESOME!! I love my new companion so much. he is amazing. His name is Elder Sanchez, he is from Mexico City. He is one great missionary and he is helping me a lot with my Spanish. There have been times where we only speak Spanish to each other which is honestly so strange because I had no idea that I could do that. We have connected with a lot of people in the streets and found out that Elder Sanchez might have a few family members living in Walla Walla. Cool Right??
1. The Gang got broken up. I moved apartments and i dont know what my new address is. If yall want to send stuff, just send it to the mission home address and it will make its way to me.
So there we were, just walking talking to everyone we see and i had a feeling to pray and ask for guidance, so we prayed. After the prayer, we opened our eyes and this guy walks out of his house and stands in his front yard. We walked over and started talking to him, his name is Pedro, he is about 50 and is from Mexico. He has lived here in Walla Walla for a while and talked to missionaries once or twice, we talked and talked and he had some really good questions for us. Then all of the sudden he asked Elder Sanchez if he knew someone named Thomas Salgado. Somehow they are related and I have no idea how or why Pedro asked him.. it was really quite cool! We have yet to talk to Thomas about it but we are trying to go by his house daily to see if they are related. We received an answer to our prayer instantly because we had faith that he would help us in finding people.
Scripture of the Week
2 Nephi 31:7
7 Know ye not that he was holy? But notwithstanding he being holy, he showeth unto the children of men that, according to the flesh he humbleth himself before the Father, and witnesseth unto the Father that he would be obedient unto him in keeping his commandments.
This is talking about how Jesus Christ had to be baptized as well, even though being a perfect man having no sin, he still needed to be baptized to enter into the Kingdom of God. The one thing that I love in this scripture is when it says "he humbleth himself", because one thing that i find hard for a lot of people is becoming humble before the lord. They feel like repentance is something restricting them from doing things but it actually opens up for a lot more. And then we need to be obedient and keep the commandments so that we can be with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again. He set the perfect example for us in all that we need to do.
I have been doin great. There are always struggles in life, and some of them have hit me hard, but i gotta keep my focus towards the Lord and not let those things drag me down. I love serving my savior every minute of very day. People think that we are crazy for leaving our families, friends, tv, school and everything behind, but this two years will just make everything so much better for the rest of my life.
